91drink or cellar Exceptional Value!
Victor Vineyards ‘C.O.V.E. – California Old Vine Estates’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
California $17.95 14.1% alcohol
Red and black berry fruit aromas intertwine with mint and floral notes on the nose. It caresses the palate with a sweet-tinged river of ripe black cherry and hints of cassis. This is medium-bodied with deft balance, persistent purity of fruit and plenty of charm and pizzazz. It finishes fruit forward with palate replays and dry clean finish and aftertaste. Pour with your favourite grilled meat or gourmet sausage. (Vic Harradine)

90drink or cellar Exceptional Value!
Victor Vineyards ‘C.O.V.E. – California Old Vine Estates’ Merlot 2018
Lodi, California $17.95 14.5% alcohol
Deep-ruby hued, almost opaque, this offers up aromas of smoky notes—matured eight months, primarily French oak—and dark berry fruit galore. It blankets the palate with a tannin-laced gusher of cassis, ripe black berry and bramble berry jam. This is medium-plus bodied with generous mouthfeel and a lengthy dry finish. Drink now—after a three-hour aeration/decant—or cellar a couple of years. This deserves to be served with a fine cut of medium-rare grilled flank steak. (Vic Harradine)

91drink or cellar Exceptional Value!
Victor Vineyards ‘C.O.V.E. – California Old Vine Estates – Riverside Red 2018
California $17.95 14.2% alcohol
This dishes up a lovely red blend that punches well above the price. An eclectic blend of 30% cabernet sauvignon/25% zinfandel/15% merlot/15% petite sirah/15% petite verdot, this spent eight months on primarily French oak. Dark bramble berry fruit and spice-infused aromas provide segue to a medium-full bodied flow of ripe red raspberry and tangy pomegranate that rolls over the palate and persists through the fruit-forward nicely balanced finish and aftertaste. Pick up a few and enjoy with grilled red meat. (Vic Harradine)

Provolo Soave 2018
DOC Soave, Italy $11.95 13.0% alcohol
This exceptional-value Soave is a blend of 80% garganega / 20% chardonnay fruit. It leaps from the glass with distinctive aromas of ripe apricot, hints of pear and wisps of piquant ginger root. A luscious wave of Meyer lemon and tropical fruit bathe the plate and infuse the crisp, clean and refreshing finish. It sips well on its own and pours particularly well with lightly seasoned seafood or roast chicken. (Vic Harradine)
