Huff Estates Rosé 2012
VQA Prince Edward County $16.95 (036982) 13.0% alcohol
This 100% Cab Franc has good heft and plenty of pizzazz. Aromas of strawberry, rhubarb compote and floral notes provide segue into a substantial mouthful of racy tang—red currant and sour cherry—streaking across the palate with piquant spice and a solid spine of acidity. It’s medium bodied with good texture and a crisp, refreshing, mouth-watering finish. Pours and pairs well with white pizza, roast chicken and pan-seared salmon. (Vic Harradine)

VQA Ontario $17.95 (155606) 12.0% alcohol
There’s great tang and an abundance of crisp, refreshing flavour in this mid weight, creamy-smooth gem. Ripe peach, pear and apple interweave with mineral notes and exotic spice heralding a gusher of gorgeous lemon-lime, green apple and ripe tropical fruit that bathes the palate and persists through the lingering, lip-smacking finish. Pours well on its own as well as alongside spicy Asian cuisine. (Vic Harradine)

Montes Twins Malbec / Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
DO Colchagua Valley, Chile $12.95 (352054) 14.0% alcohol
This equal Malbec / Cab red blend has good balance, oodles of fruit and a lengthy, mouth-watering finish. Red cherry and red currant flavours persist throughout with generous texture and interesting toasty notes and roasted herbs on the aftertaste. It complements burgers, pizza, wings and fajitas—good value, too. (Vic Harradine)
