Invisible Ribbon CampaignThis logo and The Invisible Ribbon Campaign is a public, grassroots demonstration of support for Canadian military personnel and their families. The clear plastic lapel ribbons, fastened with a Canadian flag, symbolize the 'invisible uniform' worn by spouses who are part of the military way of life.

Caroline Granger, President and CEO of The Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards & Estate Winery announced, “In recognition of the extraordinary contributions made by our Canadian Forces and the important work the Military Family Resource Centres provide, we’ve decided to donate 50¢ from every bottle of Trumpour’s Mill VQA wine sold in LCBO stores across Ontario and $1.00 from each bottle sold in restaurants across the province for the next 12 months.

“Of course, with Trenton in our backyard we are perhaps more aware of the incredible work these centres do, but I wanted to see if we couldn’t make more people aware of their great work.” Today, within the ten centres in Ontario, families receive support with their Relocation, Education, Employment, Deployment, Parenting, Youth activity, Childcare and Personal Development needs.

Look for these tags in the LCBO.Caroline was on the road recently, in LCBO stores personally fastening neck ties to bottles of Trumpour’s Mill VQA wine outlining the winery’s commitment to Canada’s military families. She enthused, “I’m starting to hear from people who’ve seen them, it’s amazing how thrilled the military families are to be recognized for their contributions in this way.”

Here’s how you can get involved – simply pick up a bottle of Trumpour’s Mill from any LCBO store or order one in any restaurant and 50¢ or $1.00 respectively, will be donated to the Military Family Resource Centres by The Grange winery.

Three wines, with wide distribution across the province, are rated and reviewed below. The Grange is Prince Edward County’s largest winery and one of the most respected. It’s a unique opportunity, not many wines get you feeling good before you pop the cork!

VQA Prince Edward County $15.95 (111955) 13.0% alcohol
Crisp and refreshing, this delivers a nice stream of ripe tree fruit along with a welcomed gentle line of moderating acidity without a splinter of oak. Golden Delicious apple, red licorice-infused melon and hints of mineral meld perfectly with hints of spiced citrus fruit on the palate. Sip on its own or pair with steamed mussels Provençal. Trumpour’s Mill ‘Estate Bottled’ Gamay Noir 2008
VQA Prince Edward County $15.10 (615062) 12.5% alcohol
Intriguing aromas of mixed spice and red cherry mix it up with hints of spice and cocoa on this lively tang-laden red. Red currant, sour cherry and cranberry flavours dominate the medium-bodied palate and racy lip-smacking finish, This is a great patio-sipping wine—chill 20 minutes before serving—quite versatile with food. Pizza, pasta in tomato sauce and barbecued spicy ribs all pair well. (Vic Harradine)

Trumpour’s Mill ‘Estate Bottled’ Pinot Gris 2008
VQA Prince Edward County $15.05 (69336) 11.5% alcohol
Coloured a light-bronze hue, the lifted aromas jump from the glass with baked apple and honeyed pear predominant. Sweet flavours of poached pear and ripe apple mingle with hints of spiced lemon tart. It’s mid weight with a good mouth feel and medium-length finish. This is a summer quaffer that also matches well with light appetizers. (Vic Harradine)
