Expressive aromas of toasty oak, aromatic bitters and spiced dark berry fruit waft from this tasty number. It’s well balanced and brimming with flavour—ripe black juicy cherry and zesty spiced black plum. The tannins are ripe, silky and perceptible, adding structure and interest. From Niagara’s exceptionally fine red-wine vintage of 2007, this offers aromas of savoury green herb, wisps of oak and espresso roast. The mouth-filling flavours—fresh cranberry and spiced pomegranate—are underpinned by barely perceptible tannin, leafiness and a persistent stream of pie cherry tang. This ratchets up a notch poured alongside roast leg of lamb rubbed and decorated with sprigs of rosemary served with mint jelly. (Vic Harradine)
