September, 2008   Malivoire Pinot Noir 2006 VQA Beamsville Bench $27.00 Look for aromas of leafy herbs and dried berry fruit from the glass of this light-bodied red. There are oodles of acidity, delivered in a tightly focused stream of fruit flavours with zest and tang—cranberry, strawberry and ripe pomegranate among them. The finish lingers, delivering a clean and refreshing dollop of pie cherry flavour—an excellent effort in a challenging vintage. This is perfectly paired with thinly sliced heirloom tomato under a drizzle of olive oil and crumbled goat cheese. (VH) |
