Ridgepoint Chardonnay 2010
VQA Twenty Mile Bench $20.00 13.0% alcohol
Showing a deft hand with seasoned French oak, this golden-green wine offers lovely aromas of a Niagara fruit basket—yellow plum, stone and orchard fruit—with a touch of citrus and toasted nut. Dry, medium bodied, the texture’s creamy, the fruit flavours including sugared grapefruit, crisp apple and nectarine mingling with hints of vanilla, spice and candied nut. There’s good balance, fine integration of the oak and a fresh clean finish. Enjoy with roast turkey, chicken or pork. (Susan Desjardins)

Ridgepoint Gewürztraminer 2011
VQA Twenty Mile Bench $15.00 12.5% alcohol
Lovely aromatics rise to the occasion—floral notes, almond kernel, nectarine and peach. Just off-dry, the wine is silky, showing good balance and depth of fruit, flavours of lychee, classic spice and bitterness on the palate. The lengthy finish reflects the fruity touch of residual sugar. This is ideal for pairing with slightly spicy foods. (Susan Desjardins)

****1/2 drink or cellar Oh Canada!
Ridgepoint ‘Reserve’ Meritage 2010
VQA Twenty Mile Bench $30.00
Equal parts of the Cabernets and Merlot were harvested at 2 tons/acre from specially selected rows, fermented together, then aged in new French oak for about 14 months. The special care taken with this wine created a dry, full bodied red with great complexity, a velvety texture and beautiful balance of fruit, supple tannin and clean acidity. Cassis, plum and red berry fruit, floral and earth notes, vanilla and spice, layer and mingle on the nose and palate. Warm on the finish, the ripe berry flavours shine through. Savour this with fine, rare prime rib. (Susan Desjardins)

****1/2 drink or cellar Oh Canada!
Ridgepoint ‘Reserve’ Merlot 2010
VQA Twenty Mile Bench $25.30 14.0% alcohol
Tasted just after bottling, the wine was already showing complexity and power. Aromas of red fruit, plum, cedar, spice and vanilla accost the nose, in a lovely fashion. Dry, medium-full bodied, the wine shows great integration—supple tannin and fine acidity established the framework for ripe plum and cherry fruit, notes of chocolate-coated cherry and spiced vanilla adding to the savoury tasting experience. Reflecting the excellent vintage, the wine finished warm, spicy and fruit filled. Serve beside duck breast with a cherry reduction. (Susan Desjardins)
