Peller Estates ‘Private Reserve’ Rosé 2013
VQA Niagara Peninsula $16.95 11.6% alcohol
Produced from hand-harvested Gamay and Pinot Noir, this award-winning elegant Rosé is reminiscent of classic Tavel offering a delicate, clean nose of red berry and cherry with a whiff of citrus. Dry, light-medium bodied, the texture is fine and silky. Subtle red fruit flavours expand on the palate, the lively backbone of acidity accenting the fruit and offering a refreshing, lengthy finish. Serve well-chilled on its own or with sautéed shrimp. (Susan Desjardins)

Peller Estates ‘Private Reserve’ Cabernet Franc 2012
VQA Niagara Peninsula $21.95 13.8% alcohol
From the historic 2012 vintage, this Cabernet Franc offers great fruit concentration, depth and complexity. On the nose notes of violet, ripe dark fruit, vanilla and spice mingle. Dry, medium-full bodied, the palate’s awash with dark chocolate flavours, dark berry and plum, elusive floral notes and savoury nuances. Twelve months in American and French oak add smoky, toasty notes while ripe tannin and fine acidity bring balance and structure. Bold and flavourful, it finishes warm and spicy, the dark chocolate note lingering. It’s a lovely match for roast lamb. (Susan Desjardins)
